Daytrip Bommelerwaard

Bommelerwaard: the island between the Maas and the Waal. A tour of Bommelerwaard takes 7 hours: we sail past villages, under bridges, past harbors and through locks. And of course, the most beautiful nature. The Netherlands at its best!

Route of the day trip to the Bommelerwaard

You are expected on board in Heusden harbour between 9:30 and 10:00. We sail at 10:00. We sail from Heusden, taking the Bergse Maas to the St. Andries lock. Along the way, you will see the industrial docks, the ferry to Bern, and the villages Bohoven, Engelen, Ammerzoden and Hedel. At ‘s-Hertogenbosch, we sail under at least three bridges. We go past Kerkdriel and through the St. Andries lock again, ending up on the Waal River. We sail downstream on the Waal and go past, among others Zaltbommel, Haaften and Poederoijen. At Loevestein Castle, we cross the Waal and enter the Afgedamde Maas (Dammed-up Maas). We go past Woudrichem, where the Waal becomes the Merwede and then we arrive at the Andel lock. Going through Veen, Aalst and Wijk en Aalburg, we sail back to Heusden harbour.
